recipe for bread

Ingredients:

500g all-purpose flour

10g salt

7g instant yeast

300ml lukewarm water

Instructions:

Prepare the Dough:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center.

In a separate bowl, mix the yeast with lukewarm water. Let it sit for a few minutes until the yeast activates and becomes frothy.

Pour the yeast mixture into the well in the flour. Gradually mix the ingredients together using a wooden spoon or your hands until a sticky dough forms.

Knead the Dough:

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Begin kneading by pushing the dough away from you with the heel of your hand, then folding it back over itself.

Continue kneading for about 10 minutes or until the dough becomes smooth, elastic, and no longer sticky. Add a little flour if needed, but be careful not to add too much.

First Rise:

Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a clean, lightly oiled bowl. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap.

Allow the dough to rise in a warm, draft-free place for approximately 1 to 2 hours or until it has doubled in size. This first rise allows the yeast to ferment and develop flavor.

Shape the Loaf:

Once the dough has risen, gently deflate it by pressing it down with your fingertips. Transfer it to a floured surface.

Shape the dough into a loaf by folding the sides inward, then rolling it tightly from one end to the other. Pinch the seams to seal.

Second Rise:

Place the shaped loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or in a greased loaf pan. Cover it with a kitchen towel and let it rise for another 30 to 60 minutes until it puffs up slightly.

Preheat the Oven:

Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F). If you have a baking stone or pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.

Bake the Bread:

Before placing the bread in the oven, you can optionally slash the top with a sharp knife to create a decorative pattern.

Carefully transfer the risen loaf to the preheated oven, either directly onto the baking stone or on the baking sheet/loaf pan.

Bake for approximately 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Enjoy:

Once the bread has cooled, slice it and enjoy your homemade creation! It's perfect for sandwiches, toast, or simply served with butter.

Conclusion:

Baking your own bread can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience. With this basic bread recipe, you have the foundation to explore different variations and experiment with adding seeds, herbs, or even different types of flour to customize your loaves. So gather your ingredients, embrace the process, and delight in the heavenly scent and taste
